The Muslim World League Welcomes the Designation by the United States of America of Muslim Brotherhood Branches in Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon as Terrorist Groups

Makkah:
The Muslim World League (MWL) welcomed the designation by the United States of America of branches of the Muslim Brotherhood in the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Republic of Lebanon as terrorist groups.

In a statement issued by the MWL’s General Secretariat, H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, stressed that “Islam is not represented by those who deviate from its principles and values, nor by those who distort the meanings of its texts to justify extremism and violence, or to exploit it to stir sedition, divide the Islamic ranks, and undermine the stability of societies, in pursuit of narrow political and partisan interests.”

H.E. renewed his affirmation of the MWL's stance—and that of all Islamic peoples under its umbrella—categorically rejecting and strongly condemning violence and terrorism in all their forms, regardless of their source, nature, or pretext, as well as rejecting and condemning all religious and ideological extremism that leads to this evil, which has targeted the security and peace of our world and the stability and prosperity of its societies.
